A healthy, functional, and pain-free body comes from proper alignment, joint position and function. The body is in alignment when all load-bearing joints (ankles, knees, hips, shoulders) line up horizontally and vertically. Where the ankles, knees, hips, spine, shoulders and head are stacked symmetrically on top of one another, and balanced left to right and front to back.
When the body is in alignment, there is no pain because the correct muscles are moving the correct bones to their correct position. This is why painkillers, surgery, braces, general exercises and many therapies often won’t help in the long-term because they only focus on the symptom, rather than the underlying root cause. Eventually the pain returns in the same location or nearby.
Good posture helps us stand, walk, sit, and lie in positions that place the least strain on supporting muscles and ligaments during movement and weight-bearing activities. Pain & Mobility Clinic, Birmingham:
To maintain proper posture, you need to have adequate muscle flexibility and strength, normal joint motion in the spine and other body regions, as well as efficient postural muscles that are balanced on both sides of the spine. In addition, you must recognize your postural habits at home and in the workplace and work to correct them, if necessary.
Poor posture can lead to excessive strain on our postural muscles and may even cause them to relax, when held in certain positions for long periods of time. For example, you can typically see this in people who bend forward at the waist for a prolonged time in the workplace. Their postural muscles are more prone to injury and back pain.
Several factors contribute to poor posture–most commonly, stress, obesity, pregnancy, weak postural muscles, abnormally tight muscles, and high-heeled shoes. In addition, decreased flexibility, a poor work environment, incorrect working posture, and unhealthy sitting and standing habits can also contribute to poor body positioning.
The bones of the human skeleton are supported, held and moved by muscles. When some of these muscles are overburdened while others are idle, neither are performing as they are designed. Any deviation from the Blueprint Anatomical Design will lead to dysfunction, compensation and eventually pain in the body and muscular imbalance. Muscular imbalances cause wear, tear and joint degeneration regardless of age. Advanced Biostructural Correction™ helps to re-educate the body to return to normal alignment and function. It is a unique and effective program designed to treat musculoskeletal pain without drugs or surgery.
Our method is a postural alignment and movement optimisation program that involves a series of individually tailored exercises and hands-on manual therapy in a certain order to help you overcome lack of movement and/or pain. These simple but profound corrective exercises and hands-on manual therapy sessions address the underlying root cause of your pain rather than merely treating your symptoms. The result is an end to your current pain (if you have any), make you feel more confident about how you look, and reduce your risk of future pain and injuries.
We focus on the entire body and how people move, to identify the root cause of any pain, dysfunction, or areas holding you back from performance improvements. Whether you’re looking to improve your posture, health and energy or looking to enhance performance, we’ll get the job done.
Eliminate pain and get back to moving pain-free again. Book your next session and see how Pain & Mobility Clinic, is different to other chiropractors in Birmingham.
