Shoulder instability is an umbrella term for a range of shoulder issues including dislocation, subluxation, and other disorders of the joint. This condition typically presents itself after the shoulder area has endured severe trauma and the tendons and ligaments within have been torn, detached, or damaged.
Signs of shoulder instability include the shoulder slipping out of the socket, which is accompanied by sharp pain and typically takes place during lifting or pulling heavy objects, playing sports, or trying to grab something behind the body.
The way we treat shoulder instability is by first assessing how much damage you have sustained and then determining the right plan which best suits you. Over time we will progress your functional movement to get you back to lifting and moving in normal range. For long term health of your shoulder, we also assess your posture to make sure it is not the cause of your pain.
